- Mom: Caleb, how was school today?
- Caleb: Good
- Mom: What did you do today?
- Caleb: Well we had recess and snack.
- Mom: What else did you do?
- Caleb: I don't remember.
My wife has been dabbling in photography for some time. Now she’s getting more serious and wants a website. There are tons of options out there for people who want to show the world their photos, but I can’t find anything that looks good enough. I design all the time, but now that I’m designing for my wife, everything is different. No type face seems to fit. No grid seems to be just right. No photo gallery plugins do what I want.
Typically, when I am designing, it’s for a client. While I get inspired and put forth my best effort, it’s still a client. This time, my wife is the client. I am proud of her and where she’s heading as a budding photographer. She’s happy with most of my efforts, but I feel like they’re all missing.
I’m currently working on the fourth revision of her site design. I’m starting to like it, I think.
For the moment, you can see some of her latest stuff at jennysecrest.com (it forwards to our MobileMe photo gallery account).

First day of school!
Caleb started school this week. He’s having a blast. He’s so cute in his uniform. When he left school the first day, he said emphatically, “I don’t have any homework!”
Soon enough.
Yeah. I’m freaked out. My little one is starting school really soon. Riding the bus with big kids, recess with big kids. Ugh. I’m not ready for this.
The day I got laid off was really fun. We went to different parks in Kirkland (they have great parks there). I think Caleb likens me being laid off to more fun than normal.
To have a child’s perspective…
